Dr. Lee and her team study mechanisms of neuron and glial cell death after brain injury from hypoxia-ischemia. She focuses on the newborn brain with special emphasis on how an injury and subsequent treatments differently affect the gray and white matter.

She leads clinical investigations into how blood flow to the brain is regulated across different blood pressures in babies and children with brain injuries.

Her research team, and her collaborators develop techniques to monitor blood flow to the brain across changes in blood pressure. They translate this technology to clinical studies.
